About Me

Isaac Elliott an AACTA and 3 x Australian Directors Guild (ADG) nominated director based in Melbourne Australia.

Isaac draws from his experience growing up in Alice Springs along with his living with a disability to explore unique and interesting characters, through a compassionate and thoughtful lens.

He started making films in 2007 after a motorcycle accident left him confined to a wheelchair. He filmed the National Championship in 2009 then moved to Melbourne to study film in 2011.  His graduating film, A Static Wind was awarded Best Tertiary Short Fiction at the 2016 ATOM awards, and earned him a finalist position in the 2017 Lexus Australia Short film fellowship.

Isaac produced and starred in the feature documentary Finke:There and Back with Brindle films. It was distributed by Madman Entertainment. The following year he directed Burlesque Blokes, a 22 minute documentary exploring the life of an Australian male stripper which has gained more than 2 million views online. He also directed a television special, The Legend of Burnout Barry for ABC and ACTF which garnered him a nomination for Best Direction in a Children’s program at the 2020 Australian Directors Guild awards.

In 2021 Isaac made his series direction debut, helming 2 episodes of ABC Kids/Netflix TV series MaveriX. He also served as a creator along with Rachel Clements and Sam Meikle. The show was nominated for an AACTA award for best kids television show 2022.

He also directed a short film Don’t Come In… Yet! starring Oli Pizzey-Stratford (The legend of Burnout Barry), Ella Newton (Harrow), Toby Truslove and Warwick Capper. It is currently making the festival rounds, making its Australian Premiere at prestigious Flickerfest Short Film festival in January 2023.

Isaac was listed on the Inside Films RISING STARS director for 2022.

In 2022 he directed a documentary We Are Sexual Beings for SBS/NITV. This film explores what it’s like to be young, disabled and sexual in modern Australia in fun doc/reality hybrid. This is in early development into a 6 x 1hr series. He also directed a web series Wildlifers for ABC kids, due to be released in May 2023.
